As a Sacramento native, George Akiyama earned both his BS and MBA from California State University, Sacramento. His three-decade career with the State of California spans multiple departments and includes executive service as CIO of the FI$Cal Project and the Department of Transportation (Caltrans), where he served as an appointee under the Brown and Newsom administrations.
Following state service, George supported IT vendors through a Sacramento-based government consulting firm, where he advised clients on engaging California’s CIO community.
He later co-founded a boutique advisory partnership with a former State of California IT executive, and subsequently launched AGS to formalize his commitment to strategic engagement between innovative solution providers and the public sector ecosystem. Today, AGS exists to build strategic partnerships that accelerate adoption, reduce procurement risks, and align technology investments with California’s public priorities.
